Tucker, Age 9, is one of more than a dozen tweens and teens who participated in our 3D workshop held in July. The students used Tinkercad, a free web based 3D design program, to create items such as cars, dogs, trinket boxes and even a chicken. Creations were printed in the designer's color of choice.
Thank you to the Friends of the Hampton Library for providing the funds to purchase our Makerbot, to the Bridgehampton Association for funding staff training and purchase of PLA filament (the material used to print) and to Tucker and his Mom for making a generous donation to allow us to purchase even more PLA filament in a variety of colors including hot pink, army green, sparkly blue, and Glow in the Dark.
Our next Makerbot class for Tweens and Teens will be Saturday, August 23rd. Please call the Library to reserve a spot. This Autumn we will be offer clases for adults and more classes for our tweens and teens. If you cannot wait until then we strongly encourage you to try using Tinkercad at home. (The site has great tutorials to get you started) We will be more than happy to help you print your work.
